A holter monitor is a small device that is used to measure your heart rhythm. A holter monitor is similar to an in-office electrocardiogram (EKG), except that is it used to measure your heart rhythm for a longer period of time. Small electrodes will be places on your chest and attached with a light adhesive. Using wires, these electrodes will be attached to a small box-like monitor used to record your heart’s activities. Your doctor will have you the device for one or two days.
Your doctor will review your results and discuss them with you at a follow up appointment.
