Message From Angie Layme

Dr. Layme was born in New Jersey and raised in Orlando. She is bilingual in that she is fluent in both Spanish and English. Dr. Layme received her pre-medical education and medical degree at UNIBE (Universidad IberoAmericana in the Dominican Republic) and was the youngest in her class to graduate in 2007. She followed her degree with a family medicine transitional year at Metropolitan Hospital San German in San German, Puerto Rico, where she received an award for excellence in performance in patient care in the pediatrics department.

She is an active member of the Puerto Rico College of Physicians & Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Hispanic Health Professionals Association of New York. Her practice philosophy centers around the fact that she strives to provide patients with the best care possible through education.

“When patients are aware of their conditions, they tend to be more compliant with the medications and have a better quality of life,” says Dr. Layme. “Establishing a good patient/doctor relationship is extremely important,” she added. The best feedback that she ever receives from a patient is, “Thank you for explaining things to me and taking your time, I appreciate it.”

Dr. Layme’s biggest support system is her mother who has followed her throughout her journey and helped her both mentally, emotionally and spiritually. She has one son, whose company she continuously enjoys. Together they enjoy outdoor adventures – golfing, football and the movies. Dr. Layme is known for becoming an active volunteer in any community in which she works.
