Message From John Ameen
John Ameen, Jr., DO, comes to Access Health Care after completing his internal medicine residency at HCA/USF Morsani College of Medicine, GME, Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Dr. Ameen received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lincoln Memorial University — DCOM, Harrogate, Tennessee. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he achieved placement on the dean's list in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Dr. Ameen majored in psychology with concentration in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience.
While studying medicine his clinical skills showed that his familiar patient populations included stroke, trauma, cardiac, autoimmune disease, psychiatric medicine, musculoskeletal, geriatrics and gastroenterology. He conducted case studies in fulminant hepatitis from hepatitis A infection, and SMA syndrome, rare diagnosis for post-prandial pain and intractable vomiting, and gastric adeno carcinoma in the pregnant female.
While in college he was a member of the Alpha Exelon Delta Premedical Honor Society. Dr. Ameen enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, kayaking, intramural sports, gardening, traveling, drawing, sewing, and baking.
